HB 2132: minimum balance notification; victim fund

Overview 
Requires the Legislature to appropriate monies to the Victim Compensation and Assistance Fund 
(Fund) if the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) reports less than $12,500,000 in the 
fund by June 30 of each fiscal year.  
History 
The Fund is administered by the ACJC and consists of monies collected from specified parole 
supervision fees, community supervision fees, penalty assessments, judicial forfeiture 
proceedings and a percentage of a prisoner's gross compensation. ACJC is required to allocate 
monies in the Fund to public and private agencies for establishing, maintaining and supporting 
programs that compensate and assist crime victims (A.R.S. § 41-2407).  
Provisions 
1. Requires ACJC to notify the Joint Legislative Budget Committee and the Governor's Office of 
Strategic Planning and Budgeting if less than $12,500,000 is deposited into the Fund for the 
current fiscal year by June 30 each fiscal year. (Sec. 1)  
2. States that if ACJC reports there is less than $12,500,000 in the Fund, the Legislature is 
required to appropriate from the state General Fund the amount equal to the difference 
between $12,500,000 and the amount in the Fund. (Sec. 1)  
3. Makes a conforming change. (Sec. 1)
