7878 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 20, chapter 4, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 20-826.05, to read: START_STATUTE20-826.05. Rate of coverage; covered service; reimbursement; pharmacist A. to the extent allowed by federal law, a hospital service corporation or medical service corporation that issues, amends, delivers or renews a subscription contract on or after the effective date of this section shall provide reimbursement coverage to a pharmacist at a rate not less than the rate provided to the following: 1. A physician who is licensed pursuant to title 32, chapter 13 or 17. 2. A nurse practitioner who is licensed pursuant to Title 32, Chapter 15. 3. A physician assistant who is licensed pursuant to title 32, Chapter 25. B. In order for the service or procedure to be covered: 1. the pharmacist must act within the laws of the pharmacist's scope of practice pursuant to Title 32, chapter 18. 2. the service or procedure would otherwise be covered under the policy. C. This section does not limit the coverage that is provided by a hospital service corporation or medical service corporation. D. This section does not limit a hospital service corporation or medical service corporation from requiring a pharmacist to comply with the laws that govern the practice of pharmacy. END_STATUTE Sec. 2. Title 20, chapter 4, article 9, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 20-1057.20, to read: START_STATUTE20-1057.20. Rate of coverage; covered service; reimbursement; pharmacist A. to the extent allowed by federal law, a health care services organization that issues, amends, delivers or renews an evidence of coverage on or after the effective date of this section shall provide reimbursement coverage to a pharmacist at a rate not less than the rate provided to the following: 1. A physician who is licensed pursuant to title 32, chapter 13 or 17. 2. A nurse practitioner who is licensed pursuant to Title 32, Chapter 15. 3. A physician assistant who is licensed pursuant to title 32, Chapter 25. B. In order for the service or procedure to be covered: 1. the pharmacist must act within the laws of the pharmacist's scope of practice pursuant to Title 32, chapter 18. 2. the service or procedure would otherwise be covered under the policy. C. This section does not limit the coverage that is provided by a health care services organization. D. This section does not limit a health care services organization from requiring a pharmacist to comply with the laws that govern the practice of pharmacy. END_STATUTE Sec. 3. A physician assistant who is licensed pursuant to title 32, Chapter 25. B.
