(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE) Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Municipal state shared revenues; department of emergency and military affairs; water tank; appropriation For any city that before January 1, 2023 provides water to customers outside of the city's service area and that reduces or terminates that service on or after January 1, 2023, the state treasurer shall withhold and redistribute $10,000,000 in state shared revenues from the city as provided by sections 42-5029 and 43-206, Arizona Revised Statutes, in fiscal year 2023-2024 to the department of emergency and military affairs for construction, installation and maintenance of a water tank with a capacity of at least fifty thousand gallons. The water tank shall be placed in the Rio Verde foothills area and the department of emergency and military affairs shall maintain the water tank and keep it filled for residential use and fire protection as needed until a water provider establishes a water supply for persons in that area. Sec. 2. Emergency This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law.
