7878 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 36, chapter 1, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-149, to read: START_STATUTE36-149. Family planning services; grant program; rules; low-income individuals A. The department shall establish a grant program to provide family planning services to low-income individuals in this state. The department shall establish by rule the eligibility and application requirements for the grant applicants. B. The grant program monies may be spent on family planning services for low-income individuals, including education, counseling and medical services relating to reproductive health and family planning options in order to improve birth outcomes in this state. END_STATUTE Sec. 2. Appropriation; department of health services; family planning services grants; intent; exemption A. The sum of $6,100,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2023-2024 to the department of health services for family planning services grants provided pursuant to section 36-149, Arizona Revised Statutes, as added by this act. B. The legislature intends that the appropriation made in subsection A of this section be considered ongoing funding in future years. C. The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
