SB 1244: appropriations; crime victim notification fund

Overview 
Appropriates $7,600,000 from the State General Fund (GF) to the Law Enforcement Crime Victim 
Notification Fund (Fund) and $400,000 to the State Treasurer to administer the Fund. Makes 
various modifications to the Fund. 
History 
The Fund is administered by the State Treasurer and used by law enforcement agencies in the 
State to fund the purchase of automated notification software that meets certain requirements to 
send updates to crime victims on the status of their investigation, report or case via email or text 
(A.R.S. § 41-180). 
Provisions 
1. Appropriates $7,600,000 from the GF to the Fund in FY 2024 through FY 2025. (Sec. 2)  
2. Appropriates $400,000 from the GF to the State Treasurer in FY 2024 through FY 2025 to 
evaluate, certify and pay for any costs associated with the Fund. (Sec. 2)  
3. Exempts both appropriations from lapsing until July 1, 2025. (Sec. 2)  
4. Extends uses of Fund monies to include a sexual assault forensic examination kit tracking 
system for victims. (Sec. 1)  
5. Alters the Fund so that monies are disbursed as grants instead of reimbursements. (Sec. 1)
