7878 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Legislative capitol mall study committee; membership; duties; report; delayed repeal A. The legislative capitol mall study committee is established consisting of the following members: 1. Two members of the senate who are members of the government committee and who are members of different political parties. The president of the senate shall appoint these members and designate one of these members to serve as cochairperson of the committee. 2. Two members of the house of representatives who are members of the government committee and who are members of different political parties. The speaker of the house of representatives shall appoint these members and designate one of these members to serve as cochairperson of the committee. 3. The director of the department of administration or the directors designee. 4. One public member who is appointed by the president of the senate. 5. One public member who is appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives. 6. Two members who are appointed by the chairman of the Maricopa county board of supervisors. One of these members shall have experience in county planning. 7. Two members who are appointed by the mayor of the city of phoenix. One of these members shall have experience in urban planning. B. Committee members are not eligible to receive compensation. C. The committee shall: 1. Meet as often as the cochairpersons deem necessary. 2. Gather information regarding the use and improvement of the capitol mall area. 3. Solicit input from a broad range of stakeholders and presenters about how to improve the capitol mall area. D. On or before December 31, 2024, the committee shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state. E. The legislature shall staff committee meetings. F. This section is repealed from and after June 30, 2025.
