An Act

 

amending title 36, chapter 4, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36-434.02; amending title 36, chapter 4, article 6, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36-446.17; relating to long-term care facilities.

 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 36, chapter 4, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-434.02, to read: START_STATUTE36-434.02. Elder abuse; pamphlet Each residential care institution shall provide to each prospective patient or resident or the representative of the prospective patient or resident a pamphlet on identifying and reporting elder abuse. The department shall prescribe the contents of the pamphlet, which shall include at a minimum the following: 1. The signs of elder abuse. 2. The questions to ask the potential elder abuse victim and the administrators of the facility where the patient or resident resides. 3. The patient's or resident's rights relating to care, abuse and reporting. 4. Who to contact in a case of suspected elder abuse. END_STATUTE Sec. 2. Title 36, chapter 4, article 6, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-446.17, to read: START_STATUTE36-446.17. Elder abuse; pamphlet Each nursing care institution, assisted living facility and assisted living home shall provide to each prospective patient or resident or the representative of the prospective patient or resident a pamphlet on identifying and reporting elder abuse. The board, in consultation with the department, shall prescribe the contents of the pamphlet, which shall include at a minimum the following: 1. The signs of elder abuse. 2. The questions to ask the potential elder abuse victim and the administrators of the facility where the patient or resident resides. 3. The patient's or resident's rights relating to care, abuse and reporting. 4. Who to contact in a case of suspected elder abuse. END_STATUTE
