8080 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Supplemental appropriation; secretary of state; legal expenses A. Notwithstanding Laws 2023, chapter 133, section 83, the $100,000 included in the operating lump sum appropriation line item of $17,254,600 that may be used for additional support for secretary of state legal expenses may be used to employ outside or private attorneys to provide legal representation or services in matters in which the secretary of state has a conflict that prevents the secretary of state from being represented by the office of the attorney general. B. In addition to the appropriation made by Laws 2023, chapter 133, section 83, the sum of $500,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2023-2024 to the secretary of state for legal expenses. These monies may be used to employ outside or private attorneys to provide legal representation or services in matters in which the secretary of state has a conflict that prevents the secretary of state from being represented by the office of the attorney general.
