69- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 15, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-120.05, to read: START_STATUTE15-120.05. Digital citizenship and media literacy standards; annual attestation; posting requirement A. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, each school that is operated by a school district or charter school in this state shall annually complete an attestation stating that the school is providing instruction that meets the digital citizenship and media literacy standards found in the educational technology standards, computer science standards, English language arts standards and social studies standards. B. Each school district and charter school shall submit the attestations completed pursuant to subsection A of this section to the department of education and shall post a copy of the attestations on the school district's or charter school's website.END_STATUTE
78+ Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 15, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-120.05, to read: START_STATUTE15-120.05. Internet safety instruction; resources; parental opt out A. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, each school operated by a school district or charter school in this state that provides either internet-connected electronic devices or internet access to students shall provide internet safety instruction to all students in each of grades five through twelve. The instruction provided pursuant to this subsection shall include best practices for all of the following: 1. Protecting students from online predators. 2. Avoiding internet scams. 3. Protecting students' passwords and personal information. 4. Protecting students from opioids, including fentanyl. B. On or before June 30, 2026, the department of education shall compile age-appropriate resources that satisfy the requirements prescribed in subsection A of this section and make the resources available to school districts and charter schools. C. Each school that is required to provide internet safety instruction pursuant to this section shall provide each student's parent with an opportunity to opt the student out of the instruction. Notwithstanding subsection A of this section, a school is not required to provide internet safety instruction to any student whose parent opts the student out of the instruction requirement.
