An Act

 

establishing the water technology study committee.

 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Water technology study committee; membership; duties; report; delayed repeal A. The water technology study committee is established consisting of the following members: 1. Three members of the senate who are appointed by the president of the senate, not more than two of whom are members of the same political party. The president of the senate shall designate one of these members to serve as cochairperson of the committee. 2. Three members of the house of representatives who are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, not more than two of whom are members of the same political party. The speaker of the house of representatives shall designate one of these members to serve as cochairperson of the committee. 3. The director of the department of water resources or the director's designee. 4. The director of the water infrastructure finance authority of Arizona or the director's designee. 5. The chief executive officer of the Arizona commerce authority or the chief executive officer's designee. 6. A representative of a statewide association that advocates on behalf of the businesses of this state appointed by the president of the senate. 7. A representative of a state university with experience in water conservation technology who is appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives. 8. A representative of a municipal water users association who is jointly appointed by the chairpersons of the house of representatives natural resources, energy and water committee and the senate natural resources committee. B. Committee members who are serving pursuant to subsection A, paragraphs 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are nonvoting members. C. The committee shall research and make recommendations regarding the following: 1. The existing application of water conservation technology across commercial and industrial property in this state. 2. Other states' initiatives to promote water saving technology. 3. The efficacy of existing water saving technologies. 4. The correlation between sustainable water technologies and the water-energy nexus. 5. Potential uses of emerging technologies to manage the water supply of this state more effectively. D. On or before December 31, 2026, the committee shall submit a report regarding the committee's activities and recommendations for administrative or legislative action to the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state. E. This section is repealed from and after December 31, 2026. 

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
