 BILL NUMBER: AB 1352INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Blakeslee FEBRUARY 27, 2009 An act to amend Section 1749.2 of the Insurance Code, relating to insurance agents and brokers. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 1352, as introduced, Blakeslee. Insurance: agents and brokers: continuing education. Existing law establishes the requirements and standards for continuing education programs for specified insurance agents and brokers. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 1749.2 of the Insurance Code is amended to read: 1749.2. The purpose of Sections 1749.3 to 1749.6, inclusive, is to establish requirements and standards for continuing education programs for persons licensed as fire and casualty broker-agents and life agents. Sections 1749.3 to 1749.6, inclusive, shall not apply to either  (a) those   of the following:   (a)     Those  persons holding resident licenses for any kind or kinds of insurance for which an examination is not required by the law of this state, nor shall it apply to any such limited or restricted license as the commissioner may exempt  or(b) licensed  .  (b)     Licensed  nonresident agents or brokers who comply with the continuing education requirements of their state of residence.
