Existing law establishes the Healthy Families Program, administered by the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board, under which basic health care services are provided to qualified low-income persons. The Healthy Families Program is partially governed and funded pursuant to the federal State Children's Health Insurance Program. This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would implement federal budget and policy changes that affect the Healthy Families Program, including, but not limited to, changes enacted as part of a federal economic stimulus package or a reauthorization of the State Children's Health Insurance Program passed by the 111th United States Congress and signed by the President. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would implement federal budget and policy changes that affect the Healthy Families Program, including, but not limited to, changes enacted as part of a federal economic stimulus package or a reauthorization of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) passed by the 111th United States Congress and signed by the President.
