 BILL NUMBER: AB 2357INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Saldana FEBRUARY 19, 2010 An act to amend Section 84400 of the Government Code, relating to the Political Reform Act of 1974. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2357, as introduced, Saldana. Political Reform Act of 1974. The Political Reform Act of 1974 provides for the regulation of political campaign financing, including the reporting and disclosure of campaign contributions and expenditures, and establishes the Fair Political Practices Commission to enforce the provisions of the act. Under the act, the Commission may not exempt any candidate or committee from the reporting requirements of the act. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 84400 of the Government Code is amended to read: 84400. Notwithstanding any other provision of  the  law, the  commission   Commission  shall have no power to exempt any person, including any candidate or committee, from any of the requirements imposed by the provisions of this chapter.
