 BILL NUMBER: AB 723INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Conway FEBRUARY 26, 2009 An act relating to community colleges. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 723, as introduced, Conway. Community colleges: career technical education programs of instruction. Existing law establishes the California Community Colleges, under the administration of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, as one of the 3 segments of public higher education in the state. Existing law authorizes the establishment, throughout the state, of community college districts, which provide instruction to students at the campuses they operate and maintain. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to develop and adopt uniform, objective, high-quality criteria and standards for evaluating programs of instruction in career technical education within the California Community Colleges. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to develop and adopt uniform, objective, high-quality criteria and standards for evaluating programs of instruction in career technical education within the California Community Colleges.
