 BILL NUMBER: AB 1381INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Bradford FEBRUARY 18, 2011 An act to amend Section 10180 of the Public Contract Code, relating to public contracts. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 1381, as introduced, Bradford. Public contracts: contract awards. The State Contract Act requires contracts awarded by the state to be publicly opened on the day named in a public notice and to be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, except as specified. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to these provisions. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 10180 of the Public Contract Code is amended to read: 10180.  (a)    On the day named in the public notice, the department shall publicly open the sealed bids and award the contracts to the lowest responsible bidders.  In   (b)     In  the case of bids opened by a district director, pursuant to Section 10141, he  or she  shall report the contents thereof to the director. In all other respects, the contracts shall be awarded as are other contracts.
