 BILL NUMBER: AB 2085INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Buchanan FEBRUARY 23, 2012 An act to amend Section 15276 of the Education Code, relating to school bonds. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2085, as introduced, Buchanan. School bonds: county offices of education. Existing law authorizes the governing board of a school district, community college district, or school facilities improvement district, pursuant to a 2/3 vote of the governing board, to pursue the authorization and issuance of bonds by a 55% vote of the electorate, subject to certain additional requirements. Existing law prohibits a county board of education from ordering an election to determine whether bonds may be issued under these provisions to raise funds for a county office of education. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to the latter provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 15276 of the Education Code is amended to read: 15276. Notwithstanding any other  provision of  law, a county board of education  may   shall  not order an election to determine whether bonds may be issued under this article to raise funds for a county office of education.
