BILL NUMBER: AB 2143INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Buchanan FEBRUARY 23, 2012 An act to amend Section 314 of the Public Utilities Code, relating to Public Utilities Commission. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2143, as introduced, Buchanan. Public Utilities Commission: inspections. Under existing law, the Public Utilities Commission has regulatory authority over public utilities. Existing law authorizes the commission, each commissioner, and each officer and person employed by the commission to inspect, at any time, the accounts, books, papers, and documents of any public utility, as specified. Existing law also authorizes the commission, each commissioner, and any officer of the commission or any employee authorized to administer oaths to examine under oath any officer, agent, or employee of a public utility in relation to its business and affairs. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.
