 BILL NUMBER: AB 967INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Carter FEBRUARY 18, 2011 An act to amend Section 51005 of the Education Code, relating to education. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 967, as introduced, Carter. Education: school districts. Existing law states that all pupils need to be provided with opportunities to explore and make career choices and to seek appropriate instruction and training to support those choices. Existing law requires the State Department of Education to encourage school districts to plan programs and activities that utilize the resources of career fairs and youth leadership activities as an integral part of the vocational instructional program and career decisionmaking. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the provision describing the requirement stated above. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 51005 of the Education Code is amended to read: 51005. In order to carry out the intent of Section 51004, the  Department of Education shall   department  annually  shall  encourage school districts to plan programs and activities  which   that  utilize the resources of fairs and youth leadership activities as an integral part of the  vocational   career technical  instructional program and career decisionmaking.
