LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 409, as introduced, La Malfa. Flood control: Department of Water Resources. Existing law authorizes the Department of Water Resources to make examinations of lands subject to inundation and overflow by flood waters and of the waters causing the inundation or overflow and authorizes the department to make plans and estimates of the cost of works to regulate and control the flood waters. This bill would make technical, nonsusbtantive changes to this provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 8300 of the Water Code is amended to read: 8300. The department may  make examinations of   examine  lands subject to inundation and overflow by flood waters and  of  the waters causing the inundation or overflow and may make plans and estimates of the cost of works to regulate and control the flood waters.
