LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 643, as introduced, Price. Pharmacists: identity. The Pharmacy Law provides for the licensure and regulation of pharmacists by the California State Board of Pharmacy. The law prohibits furnishing a prescription for a controlled substance that was transmitted by means of an oral or electronic order to an unknown person who is unable to properly establish his or her identity. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to this provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 4075 of the Business and Professions Code is amended to read: 4075.  No   A  prescription for a controlled substance transmitted by means of an oral or  electronically transmitted   electronic  order shall  not  be furnished to  any person   an  unknown  and   person who is  unable to properly establish his or her identity. The board may by regulation establish procedures to prevent unauthorized persons from receiving prescription drugs furnished to a patient or a representative of the patient.
