BILL NUMBER: SB 1061INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Hueso FEBRUARY 16, 2016 An act to amend Section 14350 of the Public Resources Code, relating to the California Conservation Corps. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 1061, as introduced, Hueso. California Conservation Corps: county and city conservation corps training programs. Existing law establishes the California Conservation Corps program to provide training and employment to young people on projects that, among other things, conserve, maintain, improve, and develop natural resources. Existing law authorizes the Director of the California Conservation Corps to establish a training program for members of county or city conservation corps, as prescribed, but specifies that the training program is authorized only to the extent that it does not adversely affect the ability of the California Conservation Corps to maintain 2,000 active corpsmembers. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change in that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 14350 of the Public Resources Code is amended to read: 14350. The director may establish a training program for members of county or city conservation corps. The program may be designed to provide the same training to members of county or city conservation corps as that is provided to corpsmembers of the corps and may be conducted in the same facilities. The program is authorized only to the extent that it does not adversely affect the ability of the California Conservation Corps to maintain 2,000 active corpsmembers.
