Existing law requires fees in addition to regular license plate fees to be paid for registration and renewal of specialized license plates, as specified. Existing law establishes the Enhanced Fleet Modernization Subaccount to make moneys available, upon appropriation by the Legislature, to achieve the goals of the Enhanced Fleet Modernization Program, including achieving reductions in the emissions of greenhouse gases, improvements in air quality, and benefits to low-income residents through the replacement of high-polluter motor vehicles with cleaner and more efficient motor vehicles.This bill would authorize a state agency to apply to the department to sponsor a Go Green specialized license plate program. Go Green specialized license plates would only be available for zero-emission vehicles.
