Existing law establishes the Community College Facility Deferred Maintenance and Special Repair Program, and requires moneys received by community college districts under the program to be expended in accordance with rules and regulations adopted by the board of governors for the allocation of those moneys.This bill would provide that the governing board of a community college district is authorized to construct and maintain, instead of dormitories, student housing in connection with any community college campus within the district. The bill would further provide that, notwithstanding any other law, a community college district is authorized to expend, for the construction and maintenance of student housing, funds allocated pursuant to the Community College Facility Deferred Maintenance and Special Repair Program.
