[ Filed with Secretary of State June 01, 2022. ] LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGESTACR 114, Nguyen. o D i Day.This measure would proclaim May 15, 2022, as o D i Day in California.Digest Key Fiscal Committee: NO Bill TextWHEREAS, The month of May has been designated as Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month; and WHEREAS, Vietnamese Americans living in California and elsewhere in the United States desire to contribute to and share their cultural heritage with the State of California and with the United States; andWHEREAS, The Vietnamese traditional long gown, known as the o D i, has long been recognized as the symbol of cultural aesthetics and pride of people of Vietnamese descent; andWHEREAS, To contribute to the people of the State of California, and to celebrate the diversity of American society, the Vietnamese American community has held a community event known as the o D i Festival throughout the state; andWHEREAS, The o D i Festival will be celebrated throughout the State of California during Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month in May 2022; andWHEREAS, The Vietnamese American community desires to designate a special day to invite all residents of California to share in its cultural heritage by wearing the traditional Vietnamese o D i; andWHEREAS, Vietnamese Americans now petition that May 15 be designated as o D i Day; now, therefore, be itResolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That May 15, 2022, shall be proclaimed as o D i Day; and be it further Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
