Cordero was born on May 13, 1990, to Rebecca and Gilbert Cordero; andWHEREAS, Isaiah was of Mexican and Puerto Rican decent; andWHEREAS, Isaiah developed a love for motorcycles at an early age, just like his father; andWHEREAS, Isaiah graduated from Cajon High School in the City of San Bernardino, where he played football for two years as a tight end; andWHEREAS, Isaiahs goal after graduating high school was to become a Deputy Sheriff and to eventually become a Motorcycle Enforcement Deputy; andWHEREAS, On May 5, 2014, Isaiah fulfilled his first goal and began his career with the Riverside County Sheriffs Department as a Correctional Deputy; andWHEREAS, Isaiah worked in two different correctional facilities before reclassifying to a Deputy Sheriff in 2017; andWHEREAS, Isaiah graduated from the 204th Basic Academy in February of 2018 and returned to working in a correctional facility as a Deputy Sheriff; andWHEREAS, In 2020, Isaiah was transferred to the Jurupa Valley Sheriffs Station to begin field training; andWHEREAS, After successfully completing the field training program, he was assigned to patrol the cities and unincorporated communities served by the Jurupa Valley Sheriffs Station, including the incorporated cities of Jurupa Valley, Eastvale, and Norco; andWHEREAS, In 2022, Isaiah was selected to undergo motorcycle training to become a Motorcycle Enforcement Deputy; andWHEREAS, After successfully completing a rigorous POST-certified motorcycle training course, he accomplished his second goal and began patrolling the streets as a Motorcycle Enforcement Deputy; andWHEREAS, Isaiah was specifically assigned to conduct traffic enforcement on his motorcycle in the City of Jurupa Valley; andWHEREAS, On December 29, 2022, at 32 years of age, Isaiah was shot in the City of Jurupa Valley, when he pulled over an individual for a traffic violation; andWHEREAS, Isaiah was immediately transported to Riverside Community Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and passed away later that night; andWHEREAS, Isaiah was loved by his coworkers and the communities he served throughout his career; andWHEREAS, Isaiah had a promising career ahead of him but his life was tragically cut short; andWHEREAS, Isaiah is survived by his loving parents and his over 300 extended family members; now, therefore, be itResolved by the Senate of the State of California, the Assembly thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the portion of State Highway Route 60, from Valley Way in the City of Jurupa Valley to Pyrite Street in the City of Jurupa Valley, in the County of Riverside, as the Deputy Isaiah A.
