14-Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
15-SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 24-33.5-117, amend
16-(7), (8), and (9) as follows:
17-24-33.5-117. Crime prevention through safer streets grant
18-program - created - committee - reports - repeal. (7) The general
19-assembly shall appropriate ten million three hundred thousand dollars in

24+The crime prevention through safer streets grant program (safer
25+streets program) currently exists within the department of public safety
26+(DPS). The safer streets program repeals on November 1, 2023. The bill
27+extends the safer streets program, extends reporting requirements, and
28+extends the authority for the DPS to use the appropriation received in the

50+Two additional grant programs exist within DPS:
51+! A law enforcement workforce recruitment, retention, and
52+tuition grant program (workforce program) to award grants
53+to law enforcement agencies to address workforce
54+shortages, improve training to P.O.S.T.-certified peace
55+officers, and improve relationships between law
56+enforcement and impacted communities; and
57+! A state's mission for assistance in recruitment and training
58+policing grant program (SMART program) to award grants
59+to law enforcement agencies to increase the number of
60+P.O.S.T.-certified and non-certified officers who are
61+representative of the communities they serve and to provide
62+training for those additional law enforcement officers.
63+The bill extends the workforce program and the SMART program
64+and their reporting requirements, specifies additional permissible uses for
65+the workforce program and SMART program grant awards, permits DPS
66+to set workforce program and SMART program deadlines, and permits
67+DPS to provide technical support to workforce program and SMART
68+program applicants.
69+The behavioral health information and data-sharing program
70+(information program) currently exists within the DPS. The program
71+repeals on June 30, 2024. The bill extends the information program, and
72+the authority for the DPS to use the appropriation until December 30,
73+2024.
74+Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:1
75+SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 24-33.5-117, amend2

37-that receives a grant shall provide a final report to the department describing
38-how the grant money was utilized and what measurable or observable
39-impacts the use of the grant money had on reducing crime disaggregated by
40-the type of crime and demographic information. On or before October 1,
41-2023,
42-AND EACH OCTOBER 1 THEREAFTER THROUGH 2026, the department
43-shall submit a summary of the reports to the judiciary committees of the
44-house of representatives and senate, or to any successor committees.
