6-ONCERNING AMENDMENTS TO THE DANGEROUS DOG STATUTE .

8-Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
9-SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 18-9-204.5, amend (6)
10-introductory portion, and (6)(b) as follows:
11-18-9-204.5. Unlawful ownership of dangerous dog - legislative
12-declaration - definitions. (6) The provisions of this section shall

17- A dog that inflicts bodily or serious bodily injury to any
18-A veterinary health-care worker, dog groomer, humane agency personnel,
19-professional dog handler, or trainer, each acting in the performance of his

21-a court order issued pursuant to paragraph (e.5) of subsection (3)
22-SUBSECTION (3)(e.5) of this section and the owner has failed to comply with

34-ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly; except
35-that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V
36-of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this act
37-within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take effect
38-unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in
39-PAGE 2-HOUSE BILL 25-1034 November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official
40-declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.

21+In the case of a veterinary health-care worker, dog groomer,
22+humane agency personnel, professional dog handler, or trainer acting in
23+the performance of that person's professional duties, the bill removes the
24+term "or serious bodily injury" to the list provisions that the statute does
25+not apply to, leaving just "bodily injury".
