10-Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
11-SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, amend 16-2.5-102 as
12-follows:
13-16-2.5-102. Certified peace officer - P.O.S.T. certification
14-required. The following peace officers shall meet all the standards imposed
15-by law on a peace officer and shall be certified by the peace officers
16-standards and training board, referred to in this article
17- ARTICLE 2.5 as the
18-"P.O.S.T. board": A chief of police; a police officer; a sheriff; an
19-undersheriff; a deputy sheriff; a Colorado state patrol officer; a town
20-marshal; a deputy town marshal; a reserve police officer; a reserve deputy
21-sheriff; a reserve deputy town marshal; a police officer or reserve police
22-officer employed by a state institution of higher education; a Colorado
23-NOTE: This bill has been prepared for the signatures of the appropriate legislative
24-officers and the Governor. To determine whether the Governor has signed the bill

22+The Colorado rangers law enforcement shared reserve, commonly
23+known as the Colorado rangers (CLER), is a statewide law enforcement
24+agency that has been established as a political subdivision of the state
25+through the execution of an intergovernmental agreement for the public
26+purpose of promoting the safety, security, and general welfare of all
27+Coloradans by establishing a peace officers standards and training board

49+Sections 1 through 4 of the bill update laws relating to civil
50+defense workers and peace officers to clarify the status of the CLER as
51+a governmental entity created by intergovernmental agreement rather than
52+as a volunteer organization, as it was prior to 2018, the requirement that
53+a Colorado ranger be a P.O.S.T. board certified peace officer, and the
54+scope of a Colorado ranger's authority.
55+Section 5:
56+! Authorizes the board of the CLER to establish policies to
57+allow compensation to be paid to a Colorado ranger if the
58+Colorado ranger:
59+! Is deployed as a peace officer to a jurisdiction for an
60+extended period, as defined or described in the
61+policies; or
62+! Is deployed as a peace officer outside the state as
63+authorized by a specified interstate compact for any
64+length of time; and
65+! Authorizes the CLER to accept gifts, grants, and donations.
