2222 In Colorado's wildlife statutes, the legislative declaration commits
2323 the state to use hunting, trapping, and fishing as the primary methods of
2424 effecting wildlife harvests. The bill requires the parks and wildlife
2525 commission to use the best available wildlife and ecological science to
2626 adopt rules that benefit wildlife, whole ecosystem health, and all

5353 takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the19
5454 ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly; except20
5555 that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V21
5656 of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this22
5757 act within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take23
5858 effect unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in24
5959 HB25-1258-2- November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the1
6060 official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.2
