4438 year 2025-26. The bill authorizes the office to accept gifts, grants, or
4539 donations for crediting to the fund to implement the bill.
4640 Money in the fund may be used by the office in the governor's
4741 discretion to hire and employ personnel or retain contractors for purposes
4842 related to federal government actions that impact federal disbursements,
4943 grants, contracts, or money received by or transferred to the state. The
5044 office may also reimburse the department of law for costs associated with
5145 special assistant attorneys general who are contracted for the purposes of
5246 providing legal services:
5347 ! To state officers or employees related to legal proceedings,
5448 inquiries, hearings, or investigations initiated, pursued, or
5549 threatened by the federal government; or
5650 ! For the criminal defense of state officers or employees in
5751 legal actions arising out of their official acts or decisions.
5852 The office may also incur other expenditures covered by the fund
5953 that are consistent with the purposes of the bill, as determined by the
6054 governor, including expenditures to preserve and protect state sovereignty
6155 or federal funding streams that benefit the state.
6256 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:1
6357 SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 24-75-232, amend2

109103 SECTION 2. Appropriation. For the 2025-26 state fiscal year,26

113107 fund created in section 24-75-232 (3), C.R.S. To implement this act, the2
114108 office may use this appropriation for administration of governor's office3
115109 and residence. Any money appropriated in this section not expended prior4
116110 to July 1, 2026, is further appropriated to the office for the 2026-27 state5
117111 fiscal year for the same purpose.6
118112 SECTION 3. Safety clause. The general assembly finds,7
119113 determines, and declares that this act is necessary for the immediate8
120114 preservation of the public peace, health, or safety or for appropriations for9
121115 the support and maintenance of the departments of the state and state10
122116 institutions.11
