1313 WHEREAS, Since the Revolutionary War, more than one million1
1414 American soldiers have died in battle and military conflicts; their2
1515 families, who have endured these losses and the accompanying grief, are3
1616 known as Gold Star Families; and4
1717 WHEREAS, Gold Star Families were named for the practice of5
1818 families hanging service banners in the windows of their homes, with a6
1919 star for each family member serving in the Armed Forces: Deep blue stars7
2020 were displayed for each living member serving, and they were replaced8
2121 with gold stars if the loved one was killed in action serving our country9
2222 and protecting our freedom; and10
2323 WHEREAS, While George Vaughn Seibold was fighting abroad11
2424 during World War I, his mother, Grace Darling Seibold, channeled her12

5852 sacrifice in service to our nation, Gold Star Families are a living legacy13
5953 of each fallen soldier and can help us all remember and honor these14

6155 WHEREAS, Long after the battles have ended, as our stars and16
6256 stripes of liberty fly, the families who have at home a folded flag and at17
6357 the table an empty seat deserve our respect and our support; now,18

6559 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventy-fifth20
6660 General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein:21
6761 That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly, honor22
6862 the pride and the pain of the parents, partners, children, and siblings of23
6963 our fallen heroes and recognize the families of these proud patriots with24
7064 an expression of profound gratitude and respect.25
7165 Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent26
7266 to the commanders of the American Legion Posts in Colorado; the27
7367 commanders of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts in Colorado; the28
7468 commanders of Colorado's active military bases; the Pikes Peak Chapter29
7569 of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc.; the Denver Chapter of Gold Star30
