19-Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
20-SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 18-12-101, repeal
21-(1)(g.2); and add (1)(g.7) and (1)(g.8) as follows:
22-18-12-101. Peace officer affirmative defense - definitions. (1) As
23-used in this article 12, unless the context otherwise requires:

52+semiautomatic rifle or semiautomatic shotgun with a detachable magazine
53+or a gas-operated semiautomatic handgun with a detachable magazine.
54+The bill prohibits knowingly manufacturing, distributing, transferring,
55+selling, or purchasing a specified semiautomatic firearm; except that a
56+person may transfer a specified semiautomatic firearm to an heir, an
57+individual residing in another state, or a federally licensed firearm dealer.
58+Unlawful manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale, or purchase of
59+a specified semiautomatic firearm is a class 2 misdemeanor; except that
60+a second or subsequent offense is a class 6 felony. The department of
61+revenue shall revoke the state firearms dealer permit of a dealer who
62+unlawfully manufactures, distributes, transfers, sells, or purchases a
63+specified semiautomatic firearm. The Colorado bureau of investigation
64+shall deny the transfer of a firearm to a person who was convicted of
65+misdemeanor unlawful manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale, or
66+purchase of a specified semiautomatic firearm within 5 years prior to the
67+transfer. A person convicted of felony unlawful manufacture, distribution,
68+transfer, sale, or purchase of a specified semiautomatic firearm is
69+prohibited from possessing a firearm or certain other weapons.
70+Existing law prohibits possession of a dangerous weapon. The bill
71+defines "rapid-fire device" and classifies rapid-fire devices as dangerous
72+weapons under Colorado law. The bill repeals the definition of "machine
73+gun conversion device" and removes machine gun conversion devices
74+from the list of dangerous weapons.
