2323 Wildfire Matters Review Committee. The bill requires the
2424 general assembly to appropriate $7,500,000 to the division of fire
2525 prevention and control (division) for state fiscal year 2024-25 and allows
2626 any unexpended portion of the appropriation to also be expended in state
2727 fiscal year 2025-26. The division is required to use the money to study

4545 The division may contract with a third party that has developed
4646 artificial intelligence tools to predict, mitigate, or assist in fighting
4747 wildfires. The division is also authorized to seek, accept, and expend
4848 gifts, grants, and donations for the purposes of the bill.

9292 SECTION 2. Act subject to petition - effective date. This act18
9393 takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the19
9494 ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly; except20
9595 that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V21
9696 of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this22
9797 act within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take23
9898 effect unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in24
9999 November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the25
100100 official declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.26
