23+The bill requires the division of criminal justice (division) in the
24+department of public safety to apply for and accept and expend federal or
25+other available grant money to improve the state's response to mass
26+shootings, including grant money to support services for victims of mass

18-Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado:
19-SECTION 1. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 24-33.5-102, add (5)
20-as follows:
21-24-33.5-102. Definitions. As used in this article 33.5, unless the
22-context otherwise requires:

52-that, if a referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V
53-of the state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this act
54-within such period, then the act, item, section, or part will not take effect
55-unless approved by the people at the general election to be held in
56-PAGE 2-SENATE BILL 25-059 November 2026 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official
57-declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.
