6862 Colorado Space Coalition, a group of industry stakeholders working to27
6963 grow and promote Colorado as a center of excellence for aerospace; the28
7064 Colorado chapter of Citizens for Space Exploration, housed within the29
7165 Colorado Business Roundtable, whose mission is to promote better30
7266 understanding of aerospace and its importance in our economy and daily31
7367 lives, as well as promoting the importance of human space exploration;32
7468 and the Colorado Space Business Roundtable, an organization that works33
7569 to convene stakeholders from industry, government, and academia to34
7670 advance aerospace business and workforce opportunities throughout the35
7771 state; and36
7872 WHEREAS, The Colorado Air and Space Port seeks to serve as37
7973 America's hub for commercial space transportation, research, and38

8175 -2- development. This horizontal launch facility will have the potential to1
8276 become the foundation for a global suborbital transportation network2
8377 connecting Colorado globally; now, therefore,3
8478 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventy-fifth General Assembly4
8579 of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein:5
8680 That we, the members of the Colorado General Assembly:6
8781 (1) Strongly urge and request the government of the United States7
8882 of America to take action to preserve and enhance American leadership8
8983 in space, spur innovation, and ensure our continued national and9
9084 economic security by increasing funding for space exploration and10
9185 activities;11
9286 (2) Recognize that Colorado's aerospace industry plays a pivotal12
9387 role in NASA's Artemis program, with numerous companies contributing13
9488 critical technologies and expertise to enable human exploration of the14
9589 moon and beyond. Lockheed Martin Space, headquartered in Littleton, is15
9690 a prime contractor for the Orion spacecraft, the crew vehicle designed to16
9791 transport astronauts to lunar orbit. United Launch Alliance, based in17
9892 Centennial, provides the second stage, which propels the Orion spacecraft18
9993 to the moon after launch. BAE Systems, located in Boulder, contributes19
10094 advanced spacecraft instruments and sensors for Artemis-related20
10195 missions. Similarly, Raytheon Technologies' Colorado operations supply21
10296 precision navigation and control systems, ensuring the accurate trajectory22
10397 and landing of lunar missions.23
10498 (3) Congratulate the Colorado Department of Labor and24
10599 Employment, in partnership with the aerospace industry and key space25
106100 organizations, such as the Colorado Space Business Roundtable, in its26
107101 newly established teacher externship program aimed at bridging the gap27
108102 between K-12 education and industry needs. This initiative provides28
109103 educators with hands-on experience that enables them to bring real-world29
110104 applications back to their classrooms and enhance their understanding of30
111105 the skills and knowledge required in today's workforce, particularly in31
112106 STEM fields, and to inform curriculum development that aligns with32
113107 current industry standards.33
