AN ACT CONCERNING THE DENIAL OF UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION BENEFITS TO LIVERY DRIVERS WHO ARE UNEMPLOYED AS A RESULT OF BEING DENIED A SPECIAL OPERATOR'S PERMIT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2010) No individual employed as an operator of a motor vehicle in livery service, as defined in section 13b-101 of the general statutes, who becomes unemployed as a result of being denied a special operator's permit pursuant to section 14-37a of the general statutes shall be eligible to collect benefits pursuant to chapter 567 of the general statutes.

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To prevent livery drivers terminated from employment as a result of being denied a special operator's permit from collecting unemployment compensation.
