AN ACT CONCERNING A STATE INCOME TAX CREDIT IN LIEU OF MUNICIPAL PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR SENIOR CITIZENS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require senior citizens who qualify for municipal property tax relief under chapters 204 and 204a of the general statutes to pay the municipal property tax due under chapter 203 of the general statutes. It is further proposed that such senior citizens be allowed a credit against the state income tax in an amount equal to the municipal property tax relief for which such senior citizens qualify. Statement of Purpose: To shift the burden of providing tax relief to senior citizens from municipalities to the state.
