AN ACT REQUIRING ADVANCE PAYMENT UNDER A FIRE INSURANCE POLICY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 38a-307 of the general statutes be amended to require an insurer that makes, issues or delivers a fire insurance policy in this state to make advance payment to an insured following a loss covered by such policy, upon request and a showing of need by such insured.
Statement of Purpose:
To aid policyholders who are in financial distress following a loss covered by a fire insurance policy.
