AN ACT REQUIRING THE COLLECTION OF DNA FROM PERSONS ARRESTED FOR A SERIOUS FELONY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That sections 54-102 to 54-102, inclusive, of the general statutes be amended to require that any person arrested for a serious felony, as defined by section 54-82t of the general statutes, submit a blood or other biological sample for DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) analysis to determine the identification characteristics of that person. Statement of Purpose: To provide law enforcement agencies with DNA analysis for its potential use in preventing crimes, solving cold cases and exonerating arrested persons who are innocent.
