AN ACT CONCERNING THE REMOVAL OF SIGNS BY ZONING COMMISSIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 124 of the general statutes and sections 13a-124 and 14-310 of the general statutes be amended to provide municipal zoning commissions with the authority to remove or cause to be removed all illegally erected signs, signals, markings and devices that have been placed upon poles, trees or other objects within any public road or area under the zoning commissions' jurisdiction, provided notice of such removal has been provided to owners of any private property abutting the public road or area and such owner has had an opportunity to claim that the sign is on private property.

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide municipal zoning commissions with the authority to remove illegally erected signs.
