AN ACT REQUIRING A MEDICAL INSTITUTION TO NOTIFY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH UPON A FINAL ADJUDICATION THAT AN EMPLOYEE OF THE INSTITUTION HAS BREACHED A STANDARD OF CARE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 368v of the general statutes be amended to require that upon a final adjudication of a breach of a standard of care, the medical institution employing the person found to have breached the standard of care shall report the court finding to the department not later than thirty days after the date of the finding. Upon reviewing the adjudicatory finding, the department shall take such action as it deems necessary. Statement of Purpose: To require medical institutions to notify the Department of Public Health when an employee of the institution has been finally adjudicated by a Connecticut court to have breached a duty of care.
