AN ACT CONCERNING TAX CREDITS FOR CORPORATIONS THAT DONATE TO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AT NONPUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapters 207 and 229 of the general statutes be amended to create a tax credit for corporations that donate to scholarship programs for low-income students to attend (1) nonpublic schools located in Norwalk, Danbury, New Haven, Bridgeport, Hartford, New Britain, Bristol, Norwich, New London, Waterbury or Wallingford, or (2) schools for students with special needs located anywhere in Connecticut in the amount of seventy per cent of the full amount of the donation or fifty thousand dollars, whichever is less, and that the aggregate amount of all credits available in any calendar year shall not exceed five hundred thousand dollars.

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow corporations to receive a tax credit for donations to scholarship funds that allow low-income students to attend nonpublic schools or schools for students with special needs.
