AN ACT CONCERNING THE SITING OF RESIDENTIAL SEXUAL OFFENDER TREATMENT FACILITIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 4 of public act 10-112 be amended to provide that the Department of Correction and the Court Support Services Division of the Judicial Department shall evaluate any site selected on or after June 1, 2010, for the placement of a residential sexual offender treatment facility, together with any other proposed sites identified for consideration by the person, firm or corporation selected to operate such facility, in accordance with the criteria established in said section and shall report the findings of such evaluation to the General Assembly not later than July 1, 2011.

Statement of Purpose: 

To require any site selected or proposed for a residential sexual offender treatment facility to be evaluated in accordance with certain criteria such as proximity to parks, schools, child care facilities, businesses, private homes, liquor permittees, and local and state roads.
