AN ACT REPEALING ELECTRIC TRANSITION SURCHARGES AND PREVENTING RELATED RATE INCREASES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 16 of the general statutes, as amended by public act 10-179, concerning securitization of certain energy charges, be amended to repeal the new charge and that title 16 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit the Department of Public Utility Control from approving a electric distribution company rate increase when such charges expire.

Statement of Purpose: 

To repeal the charge imposed on electric energy customers that replaces the assessment for stranded costs.
