AN ACT REDUCING LEGISLATIVE PRINTING COSTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) reduce the number of bound copies made of the general statutes, State Register and Manual, Public and Special Acts, and the Summary of Public Acts and only provide bound copies upon the request of a legislator or staff; (2) reduce the number of printed copies of the Legislative Record Index, engrossed bills, bulletins, house and senate calendars, house and senate journals, daily list of bills, file copies, and offsets and provide a printed copy only upon request; (3) eliminate the printing of the Legislative Guide but continue to post it on the Internet web site of the General Assembly; (4) eliminate, where possible, the use of printed bills in committees, the House of Representatives and the Senate; and (5) eliminate the printing of all mandated reports to the legislature, including the Office of Fiscal Analysis' budget books and the Governor's budget documents, and require such reports to be accessible online or sent to the legislature by electronic mail, unless a legislator requests a printed copy. Statement of Purpose: To reduce the state's printing costs and further streamline state government.
