AN ACT REQUIRING A MORE EFFICIENT USE OF OFFICE SPACE LEASED BY THE STATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 59 of the general statutes be amended to require the Department of Public Works and the Office of Policy and Management to (1) evaluate the state's current use of leased office space, (2) develop a plan to renegotiate or terminate costly lease agreements, and (3) develop a plan for consolidating the state employee workforce to enable a more efficient use of office space, in order to achieve a savings of at least fifteen per cent of the state's current payments for leases.

Statement of Purpose: 

To streamline state government to achieve cost savings.
