AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES TO CHANGE CERTAIN ADDRESSES ON FILE WITH THE DEPARTMENT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That if the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles receives notification from the United States Postal Service (USPS) that a person who has an identity card issued under section 1-1h of the general statutes, or a motor vehicle operator's license or a certificate of registration for a motor vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, snowmobile or vessel issued under a section of the general statutes, has changed such person's address with the USPS, and the commissioner determines that such person has not notified the Department of Motor Vehicles as required by section 14-17a, 14-45 or 15-146 of the general statutes, the commissioner may send any mail related to such person's identity card, operator's license or certificate of registration to the address that is on file with the USPS and may change the address of such person in the department's records to the address of such person that is on file with the USPS. Statement of Purpose: To help the Department of Motor Vehicles maintain its bulk mail rate and to address the department's problem with significant amounts of undeliverable mail.
