AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ENERGY INDEPENDENT ECONOMY IN CONNECTICUT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2011) On or before January 1, 2015, the Commissioner of Transportation shall convert not less than twenty-five per cent of the state's heavy fleet, including, but not limited to, any tri-axle and diesel powered vehicles, to liquefied natural gas and compressed gas fuel.

Statement of Purpose: 

To convert twenty-five per cent of the state's heavy fleet to alternative fuels to increase the state's energy independence, develop energy jobs, reduce pollution and save the state money.
