2424 AN ACT ESTABLISHING AN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES ORGANIZATION FOR THE MEDICAID PROGRAM.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioner of Social Services, or said commissioner's designee, in consultation with the Commissioners of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Developmental Services and Children and Families, or said commissioners' designees, shall study the state Medicaid program to determine the feasibility and best means of converting said program from the current managed care system to a self-insured system administered by an administrative services organization, as permitted under section 17b-261m of the general statutes.

3030 (b) On or before November 15, 2011, the Commissioner of Social Services shall submit a report to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to appropriations and the budgets of state agencies, human services and public health, in accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes, summarizing the results of the study conducted under subsection (a) of this section.
