AN ACT CONCERNING UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE FOR BODILY INJURY TO A NAMED INSURED OR RELATIVE DURING THE THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 38a-336 of the general statutes be amended to provide that an insurer that provides uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage may not deny coverage to a named insured or any relative residing in the named insured's household solely on the basis that the named insured or such relative was struck as a pedestrian during the theft of a motor vehicle or motorcycle that is owned by the named insured and listed as a covered motor vehicle on the named insured's policy. Statement of Purpose: To provide uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to a named insured or a household member of the named insured for damages arising from being struck as a pedestrian during the theft of an insured vehicle.
